MISSION
HOW IT STARTED
In 2016, I met my wife, Lindsey. One weekend we took a trip to the north country and I introduced her to fly fishing. From that point on we lived for the weekends, traveling in search of new water to explore and living out of the back of a truck. I didn’t know it then, but she was unexpectedly my first client. She encouraged me to pursue guiding and in 2017 I achieved my guides license and we created Northern Water Guide.
I’ve always enjoyed teaching, and for me watching folks grow and become successful has been a pleasure to witness. Although I don’t get the opportunity to fish as much when guiding, the mindset I have now is how to catch fish without holding a fly rod. Through proper teaching and instruction, I do just that.
Fly fishing has and always will be a big part of my life, from a young child to now fishing with my wife and daughter. Our fly fishing community is growing. It has led us from casual outings with friends to planning weekend adventures, doing life together and even cross country fishing trips.
It has been an incredible journey and an opportunity I don’t take lightly. We are thankful for the friendships it has built and the connections we have made along the way.
As our guiding business grew, I retired from the fire service and entered full time guiding. I recognized the need to expand what we were doing, not just fishing, but educating and offering an experience of the same peace and reset we felt on the water. So, here we are, launching a new venture and offering the same opportunity to others.
WHAT WE VALUE
EDUCATION - the learning never ends.
RECALIBRATING ON THE WATER - we spend our lives hustling through a fast pace work environment, home life, schedules. Fly fishing reminds us to take a breath, step in the water, and exist in that moment.
BUILDING COMMUNITY - the diversity of people you meet on the water brings a sense of unity with a common factor - fly fishing.
GROWING CONFIDENCE IN SKILLS - our guides want to build your skill set and help you advance further in your fishing journey. Not just in our schools, but skills that carry with you to wherever you travel.
BEYOND CATCHING FISH - yes, catching fish is great, but apart from that, it’s learning to read the water you are standing in, observing the environment, identifying safe entry and exit of the waters you travel and understanding the entomology surrounding you.
WHO WE SERVE
As a new launch, we want to focus our attention initially on a few targeted services and operate them well. This will include our schools, fly tying classes and one day clinics.
Our fly tying classes will be open to the general public.
Our schools and clinics initially will be dedicated to the first responder community as it is the heart and soul of the president who created this foundation.
